Africa Surgical Assistance Project

Standing for health as the ultimate human right, the Africa Surgical Assistance Project (ASAP) transforms lives through locally empowered, community-based health care in West Africa. We create healthcare initiatives through partnership with local health care communities to drive personal health and economic growth in Sierra Leone.

Community Based Care

The Africa Surgical Assistance Project Team creates community-based medical/surgical programs in West Africa using a Community-Oriented Primary Care (COPC) model.

Local Partnership

Our Doctors partner with local health care providers and the communities we serve to address urgent, curable, high-impact health needs underserved by most NGOs.

Service Design and Continuous Improvement

We train local health care practitioners, conduct follow-up research, and build sustained self-directed surgical programs. Initial and follow-up study data is fed back into the program as part of a Continuous Improvement to Service Design process.
